Marlboro Team McLaren

• Nel 1976 J. Hunt passa dalla Hesketh alla McLaren. La Ferrari vince i primi 3 GP, al quarto Hunt viene squalificato ma poi riammesso. Nel GP d'Inghilterra Hunt viene squalificato per aver usato alla ripartenza la macchina di riserva. Approfittando della disgrazia accorsa a Lauda al Nurburgring andarono a conquistare 8 vittorie: Brands Hatch, Silverstone (non valide per la classifica), Jarama, Castellet, Nurburgring, Zandvort, Mospart (Toronto) ed infine Watfins Glen. Queste vittorie sono state ottenute con i modelli M23. A Zantvort debutta con Mass il telaio in Honey-Comb progettato da Gordon Coppuck denominato M26, in sostanza un'evoluzione dell' M23. All'ultimo GP Hunt è secondo a tre punti da Lauda, alla partenza piove moltissimo ed i piloti discutono se correre o meno. Lauda, che non voleva partire, dopo il primo giro si ritira ai box dicendo che con la pioggia la visibilità non è sufficiente. Hunt continua a correre e dopo una foratura arriva terzo e vince il Mondiale.
